In July of 2020, strange mounds began appearing in Mississippi. They showed up, seemingly radiating outwards from Meridian, with no explanation. In Meridian, Mississippi, these mounds formed in dense accumulation, tapering the farther out they would appear. They did not all form at once. They are still forming as of writing (September, 2023). Pictured below is one of these mounds, located in Biloxi, MS.

Photographs of the mounds routinely develop unusual dark artifacts not visible at the time the photo was taken. These tend to take on the appearance of thin "roots" almost, typically appearing around or over the subject of the image.

Recently, excavations have taken place to uncover whatever these mounds may have been hiding. As of October 2021, it has been found that most (if not all) of these mounds are mass burial grounds. The bones within them range from incredibly recent, to being as old as ~900 AD.
It also seems that, whenever these excavations occur, they are followed near immediately by floods that destroy evidence of their existence. Few remains have actually been recovered.
